| We
found out on July 23rd of last year that we were going to have a baby.
She was an unexpected surprise, since we were living with the in laws
we weren't trying yet. We were so excited, but nervous at the same time
because my son was born with a serious heart defect and had a heart transplant.
Everything was going great. On November 19th, we found out we were having
a little girl and her heart was normal. I was having a great pregnancy,
at my 40 week appt. on March 30th, 2004 (my due date). I told my ob that
her movement had slowed down, but she was still moving. He ordered an
NST, and they checked my fluid. Everything looked good. I was having mild
back pain and such so I went in to L&D to get observed on the 26th.
Again everything looked good. On March 30th, 2004 I woke up with contractions
five minutes apart. The ambulance had to take me from the childrens hospital,
to the hospital across the street. (I was there with my son doing a sleep
study.). When I got to the L&D room the nurse couldn't find her h/b.
She was really low and the doctors had a hard time of finding it sometimes,
and I felt her move the night before, so I wasn't worried. Then when she
kept trying and couldn't find it, they brought in an u/s machine. I saw
the screen where the heart was and it was still. I had to wait until my
husband got there to tell him. He was on his way from work thinking his
baby was alive. The doctors said they would not know what caused her death
until she was born, and even then they might not be able to tell. I kept
telling my husband it was the cord, he said we didn't know that yet. She
was finally born at 10:37 pm with the cord wrapped around her neck once
and once around her foot. She was 7lb 7.3oz, and 21 1/2 inches long. My
doctor has been great he sent my a sympathy card, and talked to us two
weeks later to give us support group info and see how we were doing. |
